First time in 5+ years I’ve had to wear a suit. I am ready for our evening event (kinda wish I was in my PJ’s under a blanket though 😂).

Rugby dinner for my son’s club to celebrate end of season. Jokes aside it should be fun with good food. I’m just old and grumpy 😜

Stuff This Week #83

A week with some sad news and reflection, busy work and recalibration.

♥ First thing I have to mention is the tragic loss of Michael Borland. We would talk on social.lol about Tech/Mac stuff, Productivity, LEGO, having a blog as well as life in general. I never met him. Never even heard his voice, but it was a pleasure every time I had a conversation over Mastodon with him.  I use his icons for Bullet Journaling in my own work journal and he’d just encouraged me to start looking into if Johnny.Decimal after posting about it. I enjoyed and looked forwards to our interactions and thought he was an admirable, wonderful person.

As per his families wishes, I’ve made a donation to St Jude’s in his honour. I’ll finish this little tribute advising you to read one of my favourites. His life rules post. Safe travels Michael.

I have spent way too much on (healthy!) breakfast treats at Waitrose, I’m going to eat, shower and then do some writing and digital housekeeping! 

Resident Evil : Requiem Review ★★★★★

Best game I’ve played this year so far. loved every moment of it. The Yin/Yang of sneaking around and counting every bullet as Grace to being the absolute zombie murdering wise cracking Leon makes for a great contrast as you work through the game. Graphically stunning. Fun systems. Doesn’t outstay its welcome. Encourages replays. Absolute winner in my book.

Lego boxes. Second only to Apple boxes when it comes to hoarding them… 😂 

They are being recycled ! I have the courage to do this! 🚮 

Bit of excitement tonight. Just after dinner we heard a frantic banging on our back door and through the glass saw a teenage kid begging us to let him in…

He looked terrified so we cautiously opened the door and let him in. Turns out he’d been to the takeaway for food next to the train station around the corner before going to a local football match and about 30 football hooligans had harassed and chased the poor kid as soon as they got off the train, He was extremely polite and grateful that we gave him an escape!

What sort of horrible idiots chase a 16 year old kid?!?!

Small world as it turns out my son knows him from school and was going to the same match. Thankfully No other dramas occurred and they both enjoyed the match. ⚽️

Bedroom Renovations Begin! 👷🔨

After a day and a half worth of graft with hammers, drills and screwdrivers our old grubby fitted wardrobes are now removed unveiling…. The grubby walls behind them! 😒  


One bit of wood remains for now as there’s a plug socket and lamp behind them which we have booked an electrician to remove (lamp) and re-fit against the underneath wall with a nicer fixture (sockets).


Plasterer is coming to look and quote tonight for a full re-do of all walls and ceiling. Carpet company coming to measure on Thursday. Tomorrow we’re off to look at Furniture options in IKEA and John Lewis. 


Being in this weird in-between phase is always messy. It was the same when we were redoing the media room. You feel like you’ll never be done and then suddenly it’s a fully functional room again and you wonder what all the fuss was about.


At least with the media room it was just a spare leaking room we didn’t even use so the disruption was kept to a minimum. With this being our bedroom the story is a bit different this time when it comes to doing all the work and re-arranging. 

Thankfully with my eldest travelling Asia at the moment as well as the media room having a sofa bed we’re set up to have to move around as required.


Also, if I never see this goddamn bird wallpaper again in my life it will be too soon. I cannot wait to get rid of this. 🙅🦩


Anyway, time to rest my weary old bones now and wait for the plasterer to arrive!


A busy day and nearly time for bed. Watched my son’s rugby team play in the final today. Sadly we didn’t get the outcome we wanted but I am so proud of him and his team. Such a friendly, dedicated supportive group of lads. It’s fantastic to see.

To come second is a fantastic achievement and this it the only cup game they lost all season. On pure results they are top of the result table. 

Colts season next year! Go Dorch! 🏉
