In Slovenia inflation is measured with the consumer price index with which we measure changes in retail prices of goods and services from the point of view of the expenditure structure, which the resident population intends for final consumption at home and abroad.

Average expenditure of foreign tourists staying in hotels highest in Ljubljana, lowest in seaside municipalities
Foreign tourists staying in hotels in September and October 2025 spent on average EUR 197 per day. For most of them expenditures were within expectations, while one in nine thought that they were higher than they expected.

In 2024, mothers in Slovenia gave birth to the fewest children ever, 16,875. Their mean age at birth is rising; in 2024 it was 31.1 years. More than half of children were born to unmarried mothers. The employment rates of mothers in Slovenia are among the highest in the EU.

A smaller area intended for market vegetable production than in 2022
In 2025, 5% fewer producers were engaged in market horticultural production (in addition to vegetable production, other horticultural crops are also included) on a fifth smaller area than three years earlier.

Fewer building permits issued than a month earlier
At the monthly level, 18% fewer building permits were issued in February: for residential buildings 12% and for non-residential buildings 22% fewer.

Average earnings lower than earnings for December but higher than earnings for January 2025
Compared to earnings for December of the previous year, average gross earnings for January were lower – in nominal terms by 5.8% and in real terms by 5.3%. Such a decrease was mainly due to lower extra payments.

In February, producer prices unchanged
Producer prices were on average the same as the month before. They increased on the domestic market and decreased on non-domestic markets. In an annual comparison, they went up by 1.5%.

At the end of 2025, half of persons in employment went to work in another municipality
Osrednjeslovenska was the only statistical region with (about 83,000) more workplaces than persons in employment living in it. Municipality Ljubljana had the highest share (80.7%) of persons living and working in the municipality.

22 March, World Water Day
Almost half of the water abstracted for public water supply in 2024 was delivered to households. A resident used on average 100 litres of water per day. Households generated 10.6% less municipal wastewater than in the previous year.

On an average day, residents of Slovenia made 3.9 million trips – men 52% and women 48%
In 2025, the residents of Slovenia used cars on two-thirds of their trips. Women were drivers on almost half of their tips, and men on 63%. 52% of kilometres of trips were driven by diesel cars, and 40% by petrol cars. The share of car trips was the lowest in Zasavska and Osrednjeslovenska regions.
