I’m just a guy from Hong Kong with really outlandish opinions on software and society as a whole. I post my rambling on here if I have them, and probably exclusively here. I don’t use Twitt*r or Blu*Sky (or even worse, R*ddit ), and if you do find me there, it’s probably an imposter (although I’m probably not worth impersonating).

Why the name “Wessell”? 
Contrary to what you might think, it’s not derived from or related to my government name.
It was actually derived from a longer form of “Wessell Urdata” (a username I still use in one form or another), which you could guess is a play on name for “we sell your data”. This was accompanied by a picture of Mark Zuckerberg, and I used to have that as my profile picture until some time in 2022 (Now it’s just ).
In hindsight, I don’t think Facebook really sold user data? It’s much more profitable keeping the data to themselves and selling a platform for advertisers to serve ads, but the name stuck around, and here we are.
