RIPE NCC members pay an annual contribution (service fee) per Local Internet Registry (LIR). For 2023, this fee is €1,550. This is charged on a pro rata basis for new members. New members and existing members registering additional LIR accounts also pay a sign-up fee, which is currently €1,000. Members can have more than one LIR account, but they must pay the membership and sign-up fee for each LIR account. Members also pay €50 per independent assignment or legacy resource.

What is a Local Internet Registry (LIR)?

LIRs can also request independent Internet number resources (AS Numbers, Provider Independent (PI) address space, Anycast assignments or IPv6 Internet Exchange Point (IXP) address space) for their End Users.

Becoming a Member of the RIPE NCC

Should I become a member?

YES: If your organisation needs IPv6 address space and AS Numbers, and/or makes assignments to End Users or customers. RIPE NCC members may also be eligible to receive a one time allocation of a /22 of IPv4 address space from the last /8 of IPv4 address space for their LIR account. See the online application form for more information.

NO: If you need a small amount of IPv6 addresses and don't make assignments to End Users or customers. See how to request Independent Resources for information on how to get IPv6 addresses without becoming a member.

Things You Need Before Applying

Billing Procedure and Fee Schedule 2014

Under this scheme, RIPE NCC members will be charged an annual fee of €1,750 for each LIR Account they hold. The separate charge of €50 per Provider Independent (PI) number resource assignment will be continued. AS Numbers (ASNs) are excluded from this separate charge.

IPv4 Exhaustion

On 14 September 2012, the RIPE NCC began to allocate IPv4 address space from the last /8 of IPv4 address space it holds.

What does this mean?

The RIPE NCC now allocates the IPv4 address space it holds according to section 5.1 of "IPv4 Address Allocation and Assignment Policies for the RIPE NCC Service Region", which states that RIPE NCC members can request a one time /22 allocation (1,024 IPv4 addresses) if they already have an IPv6 allocation. No new IPv4 Provider Independent (PI) space will be assigned.
