International Recommendations on Statelessness Statistics (IROSS)
Summary
The International Recommendations on Statelessness Statistics (IROSS) present a comprehensive set of recommendations that countries and international organizations can use to improve the production, overall quality, coordination, and dissemination of statistics on stateless populations.
These Recommendations were developed as part of the mandate of the Expert Group on Refugee, IDP and Statelessness (EGRISS), with approximately 40 countries and 30 international and regional organizations involved in the drafting of its six chapters covering legal framework, statistical framework, variables, statistics & indicators, data sources, and statistical coordination. Overall, the IROSS are aligned to existing statistical guidance (available at the time of writing) such as those concerning migration, refugees, population & housing census, and civil registration and vital statistics systems.
This is the third set of recommendations by EGRISS, incorporating insights from affected countries, civil society, and international experts.
