  • SUNSITES/PEARCE FIRE DISTRICT SEEKS BOARD MEMBERS TO RESTORE QUORUM BISBEE, Ariz. (March 23, 2026) The Sunsites/Pearce Fire District is seeking three community members to serve on its governing board following recent resignations that have left the district without a quorum. Due to these vacancies, the board is currently unable to conduct official business. Filling these positions is essential to restoring full operations and maintaining local oversight of fire protection and emergency response services. The district is working to fill three open board positions. Residents who live within the district and are interested in public service are encouraged to apply. Under Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) Title 48, which governs fire districts, board members are responsible for the overall governance of the district. This includes adopting budgets and tax levies, overseeing district finances, setting policy and ensuring that fire and emergency services are delivered effectively to the community. Board members serve as part of a publicly elected body and must comply with Arizona’s Open Meeting Law, meaning meetings are publicly noticed and open to the public. Members are expected to attend meetings regularly and make decisions in the best interest of district residents. Pursuant to A.R.S. § 48-803, vacancies on a fire district governing board are typically filled by the remaining board members. However, when the board is unable to act due to a lack of quorum, the Cochise County Board of Supervisors has the authority to appoint qualified individuals to fill vacancies to restore a functioning board. No prior elected experience is required to serve. However, candidates should be prepared to engage in financial oversight, review district operations and collaborate with fire district staff and fellow board members. Residents interested in serving or learning more about the application process are asked to send a letter of interest to: board@cochise.az.gov, to be received by April 3, 2026. Please call the Clerk of the Board if you have any questions: 520-432-9200. #### https://lnkd.in/gXywTV2t https://lnkd.in/giRndAfU https://lnkd.in/gC2fv-aH https://lnkd.in/gC2fv-aH #volunteerfire #firedepartment #cochisecounty #Sunsites #pearceaz
