Which Karoo devices are supported?
7Climb works on Hammerhead Karoo 2 and Karoo 3. It uses the official Karoo Extension SDK.
Do I need a power meter?
Yes. W' Balance and pacing calculations require real-time power data. Grade and climb detection work without one.
Does it work without a route?
Yes. When no route is loaded, 7Climb auto-detects climbs from real-time gradient data using a smoothing algorithm.
Is my data private?
100%. All data stays on your Karoo device. No cloud, no account, no telemetry. Your rides are yours.
How much battery does it use?
Minimal impact. 7Climb processes data at 1Hz with efficient algorithms. Expect less than 2% extra drain per hour.
Is it really free?
Yes. 7Climb is 100% free and open source under MIT license. No in-app purchases, no premium tier, no subscriptions.
How customizable is it?
Very. Choose detection sensitivity (Sensitive, Balanced, Conservative) or fine-tune parameters. Set pacing tolerance (±5W to ±20W). Toggle each alert type individually. Configure bike type, riding position, and road surface for accurate physics.
What happens between climbs?
Data fields stay useful. Climb Overview shows live grade, current power, and W' balance even on flat roads. Other fields display real-time metrics whenever data is available.
