We cordially invite contributions to a workshop that brings together an interdisciplinary crowd of researchers on opinion dynamics and collective decisions.


Format

The workshop follows the format of a plenary conference with a mix of invited and contributed talks about published or recent research. Upon submission, the applicants can opt for giving a talk or presenting a poster. The poster session will receive enough time in the program and presenters will have the opportunity to advertise their poster in the plenum before.


Topics

Of interest are empirical as well as theoretical findings and models on the individual and societal level. Topics might include but are not restricted to:

  • Agent-based models of opinion dynamics or collective decision
  • Experimental findings about opinion formation and opinion change
  • Empirical insights into the dynamics of large scale opinion landscapes, e.g. public policy mood, values, worldviews, and ideology
  • Game-theoretic models of opinion formation
  • Dynamics of repeated collective decisions
  • Social identity, partisanship and affective polarization in relation to collective decision making and opinion dynamics
  • Dynamics of risk perception and collective threats
  • Procedures for the aggregation of collective decisions
  • Models of the interplay of collective decision and opinion dynamics
  • Deliberation and its impact on collective decisions
  • Computational social choice
  • Measurement of political attitudes and voter orientations
  • Homophily and its impact on opinion dynamics
  • Social network approaches to understanding opinion dynamics or collective decision
  • Opinion dynamics and the wisdom of the crowd
  • Opinion dynamics and social epistemology
  • Opinion dynamics and the evolution of social norms

BIGSSS-CSS Summer School on Democratic Debate

The workshop is preceded by the Summer School and Research Incubator on Computational Social Science of Democratic Debate.
